We are bringing the DS106 Daily Create back again for MYFest for the months of July and August. If you’re inner voice whispers, “I am not an artist” or “I am not very creative” ignore it, the Daily Create is for you. There is no need to do it every day, just when you can.

Doing something every day can be a chore or built into a regular habit of small amounts of joy.

For MYFest 2026 can do these independently by visiting the web site each day, or do them alongside others in our Discord channel . You can also join is for drop in Create Together sessions this one on July 8 and another one on August 6. Let’s Create together!

The goal is to spend 15-20 minutes replying where you can try new media tools or forms of expression in a low stakes environment – no grades, no competition, no wrong ways to do the. Be playful or serious, and do as many or as few as you like, along side others who participate.

What is the Daily Create?

As a component of the DS106 open digital storytelling course/community, since January 8, 2012 the Daily Create has published every day a daily media creation challenge meant to be fun/playful thing to do. There is no wrong way to do a Daily Create, and we invite you to be playful and break the rules or do the opposite

The challenges range widely from photography scavenger hunts, book cover remixes, different forms of poetry, random story prompts, memes, gifs, audio remixes– see one of more than 5200 at random. Or see the 10 most recent ones.

How to participate

A new challenge is posted each day https://daily.ds106.us/ See the latest one, give it 20 minutes, and see what you can come up with.

We also have them set up to publish a new post each day to our discord channel  – and if you feel like it, you can share your thoughts on the challenge as well as your response. Participates cheer each other on and ask questions of each others. Many share the thinking behind their idea or what they used to create the response.

If you would like to create together, we are scheduling drop in sessions where we will talk about the day’s challenge and what our thoughts on how we might answer. Then with some quiet time, we invite participants to create and optional share their response with others. We can also revisit recent challenges and discuss what we like in the ways other people have responded.

For me, the Daily Create is an essential part of the days I make time for it (not every day) but I have done many of them since 2012… and am still enjoying this small diversion.

We hope you feel inspired to take on a few Daily Create challenges and that the act gives you some good doses of joy and positive creative energy.
