Welcome to day #16 of the Intentionally Equitable Hospitality (IEH) series for May 2024! It was so nice seeing and engaging with everyone during our last live session of this series. Thank you for joining us!
Daily Facilitation Tip: The Heart of the Facilitator
Today’s video is by Mays Imad. She talks about one of the challenges she faced, which is a common challenge we often all face as we are teaching or facilitating; students are physically there but are not present. She shares how this led her to check in with herself and reflect on her own presence. She asked herself “Is my heart there?” She shares her reflection and some facilitation tips. Enjoy watching/listening to this one!
Daily Optional Additional Material
Article: Trauma Informed Pedagogy and How is Your Heart?
Daily Activity: Instances where you “felt the heart”
Remember instances where you were able to “feel the heart” of a facilitator (or as a facilitator feel connected with participants). Post your reflections on the SPLOT.
