Themes & Topics

Unlock the power of creative thinking to improve your teaching. In this hands-on workshop, educators will explore practical strategies—like SCAMPER, cross-fertilization, and reversing relationships—to reimagine and enhance their lessons in a collaborative, supportive space.

Reframe, Rethink, Re-teach is a 90-minute interactive workshop designed for university faculty, instructional designers, and educators who want to refresh their teaching practice using creative thinking tools. Drawing from models such as SCAMPER, cross-fertilization, reversing relationships, and perceptual shifts, this session offers a hands-on opportunity to reimagine your course content and classroom activities. We’ll begin by briefly introducing a suite of creative thinking strategies drawn from Robert DiYanni’s Critical and Creative Thinking. Then, working in small, collaborative groups, participants will apply these techniques to lessons they wish to improve. You’ll engage in guided brainstorming, idea mapping, and structured reflection—generating alternatives, identifying constraints as creative catalysts, and challenging conventional assumptions. Bring one or two lesson ideas you’d like to rework. You’ll leave with adaptable tools, new perspectives, and peer-tested insights to support more engaging, imaginative teaching.
