From sharing resources and engaging in conversations to translating knowledge, mentoring peers, and supporting teaching and learning communities, much of the work that sustains scholarship and creative practice remains invisible. In this interactive workshop, participants will explore creative mapping and visual storytelling to explore the hidden networks of care that underpin knowledge creation. Through guided reflection and creative exercises, we’ll make visible the often overlooked care work of relationships, practices, and infrastructures that enable ideas to emerge, circulate, and endure.
Using creative mapping and visual storytelling with ephemeral artifacts (i.e. notes, annotations, sketches, correspondence, and other traces of collaborative work) we will surface and visualize the often-unrecognized practices of care that connect people, ideas, and communities. Together, we will examine how these everyday acts of generosity, maintenance, and collaboration contribute to meaningful learning and knowledge sharing, while considering new ways to recognize and value them.
No artistic experience is required. This workshop welcomes anyone interested in rethinking how knowledge is produced, valued, and sustained. Participants will leave with new perspectives on care, collaboration, and the invisible labor that shapes our learning and teaching communities.
