After completing her masters degree in Mind, Brain, and Education at Harvard University, Maya spent nearly a decade as a researcher and director at the Center for Curriculum Redesign, where she coauthored Artificial Intelligence In Education: Promises and Implications for Teaching and Learning, among other publications. Since then, Maya has entered the classroom and has taught middle school science. Maya is also the founder of QuestionWell, an AI tool for teachers. She is currently pursuing a PhD at Boston University.

She also writes and performs in various artistic endeavours, from improv to music ensembles and musical theatre.
