Bassem Elbendary has been a high school social studies teacher for the past nine years. His experience ranges between NYC and Cairo, where he was able to teach, supervise, and consult in various traditional and non-traditional schooling systems. He has just earned his Ph.D from the social studies education program at Teachers College, Columbia University. He attempted to explore how collaboratively developed curricula by Egyptian social studies teachers at international schools in Egypt can facilitate class awareness amongst Egypt’s privileged youth. His research falls in the intersection between privilege studies pedagogies, social class reproduction, and international schools.
